We at the First United Methodist Church believe in a curriculum that keeps pace with your child, while avoiding taking a mass approach towards learning.  We follow the Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards increasing a developmentally approrpriate learning experience for all children.  We believe in supporting the children to reach their fullest potential and choose to implement a variety of learning opportunities.

The Seven Areas of Learning include:

  1. Open Ended Art

  2. Literacy

  3. Math

  4. Socialization Skills

  5. Physical Fitness

  6. Music

  7. Biblical teachings

The First United Methodist Preschool currently uses the Appelbaum Curriculum with additional resources that prepares our students for furthering their education in public or private schools.  We utilize methods supporting the common core principles while keeping the program a Christ centered experience.  Children memorize monthly Bible verses and engage in weekly Bible stories.
